Michelin Guide Hotels Mexico

The arrival of the MICHELIN Guide to Mexico has shaken the country's gastronomic and hotel world. In this blog, we will explore what it means to be in the guide and how two of our hotels have been recognized by the Michelin Guide.

What is the MICHELIN Guide?

The Michelin Guide, originated in 1900, is a global reference in the hospitality industry. Recognized for its stars that rate restaurants, the guide rigorously evaluates the quality of food, service, and overall experience to offer travelers exceptional recommendations.

The MICHELIN Stars

This 2024, the Michelin Guide will begin to recognize Mexican restaurants with its coveted stars. These stars range from one to three, not only recognizing the quality of ingredients and culinary techniques but also the chef's personality and consistency on each inspector's visit.

One star: A very good restaurant in its category.

Two stars: Excellent cuisine, worth a detour to visit.

Three stars: Exceptional cuisine, deserves a special trip.

The MICHELIN Guide Hotel Selection

Although the MICHELIN guide has been recognized for over 120 years for rating only restaurants, recommendations for hotels can also be found in its exclusive hotel selection within the same guide.

Hotels are chosen for their great style, service, and personality. Hotels are not rated with stars like restaurants; instead, they are included in this hotel category when the hotel meets the following criteria:

  1. Excellence in interior design and architecture

  1. Individuality, reflecting personality and authenticity

  1. Quality and consistency of service, comfort, and maintenance

  1. A destination in itself: the hotel contributes to the local experience

  1. Ability to offer an extraordinary experience at the right price
